Community Engagement: Excelsior & Outer Mission Streetscape Design Guidelines

Excelsior & Outer Mission Streetscape Design Guidelines

Employer: San Francisco Planning Department

I supported San Francisco’s Excelsior & Outer Mission neighborhood public realm improvements by helping draft the Streetscape Design Guidelines through a year-long process that involved extensive community engagement. I assisted in the creation and implementation of the engagement plan, the design of outreach materials, as well as the drafting, design, and production of the final document. Take a look: pages 26-45 of the Guidelines.

Engagement EFFORTS: 3 open houses, Attended 5+ neighborhood association meetings, 1 pop-up event, tabling and intercept surveys at 2 community events, online surveys via SurveyMonkey, and with youth (2nd and 4th graders) via Y-Plan Program.

Outreach Collateral:24x36” Presentation boards, 11x17” hand-outs, 8.5x11” paper surveys, 4x6”mailing postcards, 15x20” posters, InDesign templates, diagrams, maps, and icons. Also, helped draft content for outreach materials and website.
