Community Engagement: 675 East Santa Clara Street Planning Process

675 East Santa Clara Street Planning Process

Client: Santa Clara County Housing Authority

Employer: CivicMakers

Supported a 2 year-long trilingual community engagement process to solicit community input and cultivate buy-in for the design of a mixed-use affordable housing development. During COVID-19, we quickly adapted our plan from traditional in-person engagements to an entirely virtual approach, which resulted in higher than expected turn out and received some community praise.

My Role:

  • Assisted the creation of an engagement strategy and communications plan.

  • Drafted and designed engagement and outreach collateral, including flyers, banners, slide decks, emails, website copy, Eventbrite, online surveys, etc.

  • Produced and coordinated the recording of 3 video presentations (incl. Spanish)

  • Coordinated logistics for an in-person community meeting, including venue, catering, and promotion implementation.

  • Planned and conducted in-language door-to-door outreach w/ Vietnamese businesses.

  • Administer Zoom for 5 online Q&A sessions and documented Q&A.

  • Synthesized community engagement input and drafted 2 summary reports.
